Some Journalists Cross Boundaries In Their Search For News – Felix Kulayigye

The UPDF spokesperson, Brig. Felix Kulayigye, has come out to criticize all journalists that go beyond their limits in the bid to access news.

While appearing on NBS TV’s Face-Off program, Kulayigye said that some journalists think they are so professional.

This forces them to go beyond their reach in the search for news. Kulayigye said that these journalists should differentiate between getting wind of information and stealing it.

“Some journalists think they are very professional, and they go beyond what they are supposed to do. There is a difference between getting wind of information and stealing it,” Kulayigye said.

Uganda and Africa has some of the worst records when it comes to press freedom. A number of journalists have been brutalized at the hands of security forces in their search for news.

Most of these journalists are actually always lawfully carrying out their jobs. The security operatives then reign down on them and beat them mercilessly.

Kulayigye also said that whatever happens in the army is the soldiers’ business.

Therefore, the outside world has no business in it unless it affects the outside world. He also added that as the UPDF, they are very solid.

The ex-representative of the armed forces in Parliament also enlightened about the famous standby class one order. This was rumored to have been declared by President Museveni last month.

It was after rumors circulated that some soldiers were unhappy with the first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential ambitions whilst still being active in the army.

Kulayigye said that this means that a soldier doesn’t get to live their workstation. This is unless they have permission from the Commander in Chief. He further added that the Force is in such a situation every Christmas season.
