Musicians Will Soon Be Evicted From Rented Houses – Sophie Gombya

The Uganda Musicians Association(UMA) elected president Sophie Gombya revealed that many musicians are complaining and confused on what will come next. Most of them luck money to clear rent arrears since they haven’t been working for the last 3 months.

However, Sophie Gombya further explained that musicians often spend their earnings without saving anything. This has affected them both emotionally and physically. To be honest, they can no longer finance their luxurious lifestyles.

As a leader, Sophie urged most of the starving musicians to reduce on how they spend and opt for cheaper accomodation if they want to maintain their lifestyle during this period of home confinement.

“Musicians always live beyond their means, that’s why many will continue to be chased from rented houses. Some of them need to move to cheaper houses if they are to survive being evicted by landlords,” she said.

Bettina Namukasa was evicted  from her rented house over arrears of Shs500,000 and this prompted the president of UMA to talk about it.
