However, they both ignored and continued with the campaigns for the speakership. Due to this, the NRM released a statement disqualifying the two from the speakership race.
“As the National Resistance Movement, we cherish harmony and unity among our leaders. Those two attributes have led us to several achievements and milestones before. We don’t want our great party the NRM torn apart simply because of differences among its senior leaders,” part of the statement read.
“Therefore on this basis, it is NRM’s view that Right Hon Rebecca Kadaga and Rt, Hon Jacob Oulanyah be disqualified from the race for the speaker of the 11th Parliament.”
The statement was released yesterday evening. Whether this is for the best, we are yet to find out. However, it doesn’t look like the two are ready to give up on this post. Especially for Kadaga, women activists said it’s either her or her. Also, rumour has it that the president wanted to make her vice president but she turned it down.
And oh, this is an April fool’s day joke.
