The first two years after he was elected, he spent them in prison. He was accused of murdering people in Masaka.
When he was finally released, instead of going to parliament, he was hit by a strange disease. Hon Ssegirinya was takenabroad to get proper treatment where he spent more than six months.
The Kawempe North MP returned from hospital months ago and at the moment, he is doing fairly well and even looks much better.
According to his friend and fellow MP Allan Ssewanyana, Ssegirinya is doing much better. He said that at the moment they are preparing him for the 2026 elections and hoping that he keeps being healthy like he was years back.
“Hon. Ssegirinya’s health is improving, and he is set to return to active politics soon. We are all hoping he stays healthy and serves his people like he promised them before elections,” he said.
Apparently, there have been rumours that NUP is planning to deny Ssegirinya the NUP card in the 2026 elections. This however seems to be just a rumour as no one has come out to speak about it.
