Julie and Pastor Mutesasira were married for more than 10 years. They had three children together before they separated.
As they were going through a divorce, Julie left Uganda for Canada without the three children. Upon reaching, she turned gay saying she was no longer interested in men, she wanted to be with a fellow woman.
She even got married to a lady leaving Pastor Mutesasira and the children facing backlash back home in Uganda.
Being a wife to a pastor and a gospel singer, many Ugandans couldn’t understand why Julie would leave her marriage to be gay in Canada. Despite all the words that were said, Pastor Steven Mutesasira decided to marry another woman and start life afresh.
In the recent interview, he said during and after the divorce, he went through so much especially in the community. He said people started seeing him as a failure. His only solution was to pray and move on with his life.
“When I was going through marriage hardships and the aftermath, life was really so hard on me. Prayer is the only thing that saved my life. Otherwise, I would be so much stressed and depressed up to date,” he said.
