He said most of them are dragging the Ugandan music industry behind yet other industries are growing so fast.
The music industry in Uganda is one of the few industries that has all generations. There are young kids earning from it, older and middle-aged ones.
According to Dr Hilderman, there is so much potential in the music industry. It has made people rich, and become leaders but at the same time, it has led people into depression.
The singer-cum politician revealed that some musicians were deceived by fame and drowned in drug addiction. Even those who are still in the music industry actively singing are fighting each other instead of helping to build industry.
“As musicians who are in parliament, we are fighting so hard to make sure that the industry gets clean and artistes start earning from it. Unfortunately, artists are not putting in that much effort. Instead, they are dragging us backward. It is very hard to help people that are not organized,” he said.
The singer said there are so many people willing to invest billions of money in the music industry. However, they don’t know where to start as artists are disorganized.
It should be noted that currently, the music industry in Uganda is divided into two factions. One is headed by Eddy Kenzo, and the other by Cindy Sanyu.
However, the two warring groups are all fighting apparently for the same thing, the copyright law amendment.
