According to him, the earlier this is accepted the better because then teenagers will be helped. He says it doesn’t make sense for teenagers to be kept in the dark about contraceptives yet they could protect them against early pregnancies and other STDs.
“Teenagers are having sex & getting pregnant. Some get pregnant on their first try with sex. One girl told me she had never heard about condoms before she got pregnant. She’s 15, and will be delivering her first child this month.
So why don’t we just give teenagers condoms?”
“Can we keep assuming that they are just innocent kids who are abstaining until marriage?🤔 The numbers say they are actually having sex, maybe even having more sex than adults,” he added.
Some people who read this post on his social media agreed with him saying people are just living in denial yet they know the truth.
“I totally agree with you. We are leaving in denial that kids are not engaging in sexual activity, if only we could accept the truth and mitigate their risk of getting pregnant or catching HIV, rather than doing damage control. @NaguruC am I right?,” a one Nabukeera Madrine said.
The Ministry of Education at some point was at crossroads in introducing sex education in schools.
However, this received a lot of backlash from religious leaders. They said children will be exposed to more sex if this is done.
With the increasing rate of teenage pregnancies though, a number of people think it’s now the time.
