The Uganda National Boxing Team Boosted Ahead Of The Tokyo Olympics

With the delayed Tokyo Olympics in Japan slated to happen between July to August this year, Bomber’s Uganda’s national boxing team have a reason to smile.

This was after a trio from the Bombers led by national team captain Shadir Musa Bwogi Kimera, Catherine Nanziri and David Ssemujju all received a financial boost in order to strengthen their preparations for the games.

These three received 2 million shillings each from the African Chocolate company. While delivering the assistance, company proprietor Steven Sembuya called on others to emulate.

He asked also several of the companies out there to help in preparing the different athletes. This is in order for them to excel at the summer games and bring glory back to the Pearl of Africa.

“We have taken this initiative to enhance the athlete’s training as they prepare for their participation in the Tokyo 2020 games. We believe that other corporate companies will follow suit. Since the boxers are going to represent the country and raise the flag high.” Sembuya said.

Sembuya who is also the president of Zzana boxing club and a boxing enthusiast has previously expressed his interest in standing for the Uganda Boxing Federation presidency against current president Moses Muhangi.

He also extended financial gratification to boxers Isaac Masembe and Hellen Baleke. He gave the boxing team 1million shillings reward each as a token of appreciation. This was for their exploits in the 2019 All Africa games in Rabat Morocco. They won silver and bronze respectively.

Uganda has 24 athletes from different sporting disciplines. They are expected to leave the country in two months from now to Japan to grace the competitions. We only wish them the best of luck.
