Tayebwa posted a photo of himself, his wife and son posing with Manchester United’s legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson and the club’s defender, Johnny Evans.
This took place over the weekend, as United won 4-0 against Everton at Old Trafford. As soon as these photos were posted, a social media user commented, “I hope this trip benefited Uganda and Ugandans; otherwise, the taxpayer’s money could be just burning.”
The MP came to his defense and said that no taxpayer money was used because his family works hard. Therefore, once in a while, they take time out to enjoy their sweat as a family.
“No taxpayer money involved here, my brother. We work as a family, and once in a while, we have family time using our personal resources,” Tayebwa said.
However, this wasn’t enough for this social media user. He demanded the MP to show proof that he was visiting the Old Trafford before becoming an MP.
“The only way you & him can convince me beyond reasonable doubt is to post his pictures at Old Trafford before he went to Parliament. I will apologize & erase my post instantly.”
Luckily for Tayebwa, he had all the receipts and he posted a photo of himself at the Old Trafford on 27/09/2014. Despite the trouble-causer promising to delete the complaint, he didn’t as it had given him wide coverage.
Well the Ruhinda North MP surely comes from a well-to-do family. This was evidenced during his father’s thanksgiving ceremony earlier this year. It attracted several public figures in the country including President Museveni.
