Two Dead, Six Injured In Buikwe Accident On Wednesday Night

Two people are reportedly dead on the spot and six others injured in a road accident on Wednesday night in Buikwe. Apparently, the accident occurred when the vehicle in which these individuals traveled rammed into the back of a truck.

‘’The police at Njeru yesterday registered a fatal accident at around 9:00 pm. This happened at Kitigoma village along Jinja-Kampala highway in Buikwe District. This accident claimed the lives of two male adults who died moments after being rushed to the hospital,’’ Traffic and Road Safety Directorate spokesperson Faridah Nampiiima confirmed the incident.

She further said the incident involved two motor vehicles, a white Tata truck, reg. no. UAT 279J, and a white Toyota Hiace reg. no. UBH 683E.

She also said the six passengers, yet to be identified, were severely injured and were rushed to Jinja Hospital for treatment.

According to the police report, the Toyota Hiace driven by an unknown driver lost control. It then rammed into the truck from behind. Both vehicles were heading to Jinja from Kampala side.

The police urged drivers, especially during this season to be cautious on the road.

‘’Our hearts and thoughts are with the family of the deceased and we wish a quick recovery to the injured victims,’’ Nampiima said.
