The companies include Uganda Breweries Limited partnering with Coca-Cola, Ministry of Health, KCCA, and NICE Uganda.
They will hold the event at Kololo Airstrip on Saturday, October 16, 2021. This will happen between 9 am and 5 pm.
‘’Our priority is to increase accessibility to Covid vaccines making it as convenient as possible for people to get vaccinated. We have witnessed an overwhelming response from the public since we extended vaccination to hospitality venues,’’ said Jackie Tahakanizibwa, the Corporate Relations Manager at UBL.
This event will see over 20 mobile vaccination stations put in one location with provisions for convenient access and amenities. Such will include a holding area, recovery tent, hospitality, and entertainment.
In one of his addresses, president Museveni said for the economy to fully recover, they need to vaccinate at least 4.8 million people.
Therefore, these efforts are part of beer company plans to reach the 4.8 million vaccinated people threshold the president talked about.
Ever since last month, UBL, Coca Cola and other partners have supported the scaling up of COVID-19 vaccines.
They extended mobile vaccination sites to restaurants bars, markets, and public centres within the greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
The drive has also focused on public sensitization to drive awareness of the benefits of vaccination as a measure against the prevailing pandemic.
At the function that happened on Monday, popular artists Ykee Benda and Azawi were unveiled as the campaign ambassadors.
Their role will be to advocate and drive awareness of the benefits of vaccination. It will also encourage as many people to get the vaccine.
