UCC to start off sim-card registration come next week.
Ugandans have been in frustration over lack of SIM card replacement and acquiring of new SIM cards ever since Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) halted the same processes until further notice as was a directive from the president of Uganda. But now we have carried good news for you that the wait is over starting next week.
Through the Government Deputy Spokesperson, Col. Shaban Bantariza in an announcement he said that effective next week, Uganda Communications Commission will communicate centers where to replace our SIM cards from. It is further known that these all together made 50 centers will be managed by UCC but together with telecom companies.
The use for this is to authenticate and verify your identification. Also, registration of your SIM Card with another person’s National ID isn’t allowed. SIM Cards will be active with in 24hrs after registration unlike the earlier process where one could get the SIM card activated immediately. You are also encouraged to report any person from UCC that becomes difficult and the Government will solve that.
