Uganda Cranes Seek Home Win Over Les Aigles From Mali

The Uganda Cranes will play host to the Les Aigles from Mali in a World Cup 2022 qualifiers Group E game later today. The duel will happen later today at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The match comes a few days after the two countries played their respective opening matches in the same group.

Les Aigles Mali beat Rwanda 1-0 in Morocco courtesy of Adama Traore’s goal that followed Moussa Djenepo’s missed penalty.

As for Uganda Cranes, they managed to fetch a point off of Kenya during the goalless draw at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.

The meeting will be the 5th between the two sides and Uganda is yet to register a victory against Mali. The West Africans have two wins to their name, while two previous matches ended in a share of the spoils.

The most recent meeting between the two sides happened in 2017 during the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.

During this game, Farouk Miya and Yves Bissouma made sure both sides shared the points after a 1-1 draw.

Uganda is currently on an eight-game winless run and need this win to keep their hopes of qualification alive.

On the other hand, Mali Eagles have won two of their last five games.
