Mr Mwesigwa was speaking to our sister media station, NBS TV, when he made the comments.
“There is no war, so far so good. The situation is still calm and we are going to maintain it until the end of day. We want people to do their business without interruption,” he said.
On why the police is mostly arresting those against the removal of age limit, Mwesigwa said the force is for everyone and not discriminating in its service.
“It is not those who are opposed to the lifting of the age limit, whether in favor or not, once you start a mobilization, you are our target,” he said.
It should be noted that police have heavily deployed at the main offices of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, and at the home of party stalwart Dr Kizza Besigye.
Already government critic, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been arrested and detained at Nagalama police station while the force remains deployed at the different homes of opposition leaders and legislators. He also refuted claims that the deployment is based on assumptions.
“Our deployment is based on information we have, we are not discriminating.”
