Ugandan Music Producers Bitter With Artist’s Over Federation Money

Ugandan music producers are very bitter with the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) over the money that the government released recently.

They said they feel excluded in everything yet they are the ones that do the most work on making a musician be who they are.

When Eddy Kenzo formed the federation, he said it included talent managers, producers, deejays and all other stakeholders in the music industry.

However, on leadership, he didn’t appoint any other person apart from the artists themselves. They have been fighting for copyright and through the process, they also asked for money from the government to help artistes.

Kenzo recently announced that the government had actually released money to the federation. But some people are complaining about not receiving the money.

According to producer Washington, producers are entitled to the money that the federation has. He said music producers need at least 80% of that money.

The producer even revealed that most artists don’t know how to sing, they just help them to at least sound good and make some money.

“Musicians undermine audio producers, yet we play a vital role in creating great music for them. Most of them don’t know how to even sing, we just try to elevate their careers. We need money that was given to the federation,” he said.
