For the last two weeks, the medics from army reached the hard-to-reach areas of the Elgon and Sebei sub-regions that form the Elgon zone.
‘’So they delivered in health centers or nearby hospitals or in tents,’’ said Rtd Col Bright Rwamirama who is also state minister for Animal Industry. He spoke in Kapchorwa town a day before Tarehe Sita commemorations.
The UPDF attracted 78 mothers and managed to help them all deliver without any complications. This left all the mothers and entire communities delighted.
According to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Wilson Mbadi, the gesture speaks to the visions the legendary NRA present-day UPDF has always borne.
‘’Helping mothers give birth safely shows how much commitment we have in our nationals as UPDF,’’ Gen. Mbadi explained.
Not only did the army deliver babies, but also conducted 234 minor medical operations. Mbadi said only a professional army can do what the army did in the Elgon region.
He further assured of the army’s commitment to supporting communities whenever necessary or called upon.
Meanwhile In other news, Up to now, Uganda still registers a high rate of mothers dying in Labor. With all the technology there, doctors and hospitals, we ask ourselves why Uganda still registers a high rate of maternal mortality rate.
The government had endeavored to build hospitals so that mother’s can have access to medication especially when they are pregnant. After all this, why do we still have a high maternal mortality rate.
