Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (WSACCO) donated 100 mattresses and five water tanks to several hospitals and schools around the country.
They directed these donations towards the successful completion of the 41st Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations. And also the Defense Forces Week in the Elgon region.
The CEO of WSACCO, Col Joseph F Onata on behalf of its management and members noted that WSAACO identifies with the needs of the population.
‘’We are therefore giving back to the population for their unwavering support during the struggle for freedom and democracy,’’ Onata said.
He added that they will distribute the mattresses to 10 selected hospitals. They will also give 5 water tanks amongst 5 schools. This will help bridge the water gap, most especially during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Col Sam Ntambirwe, the Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation thanked the Wazalendo SACCO for the generous contribution.
He also said the contribution would strengthen UPDF efforts in building a strong civil-military relationship. This is between the UPDF and the people.
Additionally, he said that it is now time for UPDF to give back to the people in Bugisu and Sebei regions. This is because of their positive contribution to the struggle.
He called for continued support from other stakeholders for UPDF to cement its strategic relationship with the people.
Representatives from the office of the UPDF Chief Political Commissar, Chieftaincy of Medical services, and the Defense Spokesperson witnessed the handover.
