URA FC Thrash Bright Stars To Close In On KCCA At The Top Of The UPL

URA FC defeated Solito Bright Stars 3-0 away at Kavumba to close in at top-placed KCCA in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League. The showdown between the two sides happened on Tuesday.

Steven Mukwala scored a brace before Viane Ssekajugo added another as URA advanced to 25 points. KCCA FC remains in the lead at the top of the table with 31 points while Vipers, Express, and BUL are second, third, and fourth. They have 30, 27, and 26 points respectively.

URA FC coach Sam Timbe hailed his players for the discipline they exhibited.

‘’The players put up a good show. The performance was good, and I believe if we continue like this, we can go far,’’ Timbe said.

The Bright Stars who have been struggling this season, remain third-bottom with 11 points. Coach Paul Kiwanuka who returned to the club for another stint believes his side made a lot of mistakes that cost them.

‘’We made careless mistakes which cost us the game. But we are going to try and improve in the next games. We believe we have the potential to improve a lot,’’ Kiwanuka noted.

The league resumed after a three weeks break to give Uganda Cranes enough time to take part in the European Tour.
