His role as Omar Little in the show brought more fame to him and grew his career even stronger. The 54 year old actor’s death has triggered grief in his family plus his fans as well. The actor’s PR says the family has requested for privacy while grieving.
“It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this,” said the statement from Marianna Shafran of Shafran PR.
Currently, there is no official cause of his death yet. However, many suspect it to be a possible drug overdose. Williams had openly talked about his struggles with drug addiction.
He even confessed to have spent most of his earnings from ‘The Wire’ Show on narcotics. This though is just an anticipation as medical reports will give the final cause of his death.
The news of his death broke many people who were closely working with him.
“Michael was a fine man and a rare talent and on our journey together, he always deserved the best words. And today those words won’t come,” David Simon, the writer of The Wire Show said.
“No words. I love you bro. RIP to the legend Michael K Williams aka one of the dopest Actors/Brothers in the world,” Us actor, Tray Chaney, said on Twitter.

Michael K Williams received multiple Emmy nominations for his work, including for his part in the series “Lovecraft Country,” .
The award show is just two weeks away from now. He has had several nominations in his film career that have helped him shape his stay in the industry.
