Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has said delays in the vaccination will not affect the reopening of the country. She said this while speaking to the parliament of Uganda.
The Ministry Of Health had a target to Vaccinate 50% of the population before the end of lockdown.
These plans have however been frustrated by the limited vaccines the country has been receiving. Due to this, Aceng says, there will be a phased kind of reopening.
“You recall that even in the first wave, there was a phased reopening before we carried out vaccination. We will reopen in a phased manner,” Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said.
She says, they can’t keep people under lockdown when the sources of the vaccine are unclear.
“We can not wait for 22 million people to get vaccinated when even the source of vaccine is not clear.”
Currently, the uncertainty of what tomorrow is bringing is too much. Whether the economy will be opened or not, if Dr. Aceng says it’s going to be a phased opening, then that is it.
The president will address the nation tomorrow at 8 pm. Earlier, he was scheduled to speak on Saturday but because the 42 days are ending tomorrow, people would probably be unruly.
Currently, only 1,135,916 people received the vaccination. This means a great number of people are still in danger.
