‘Watch Me’ Rapper Silento Charged With Murdering His Cousin

Authorities have arrested the rapper behind the 2015 viral dance song ‘Watch Me’ and charged him with the murder of his own cousin. The police arrested the 23-year-old Richard ‘’Ricky’’ Lamar Hawk on February 1 for the murder of 34-year-old Fredrick Rooks, his own cousin.

Silento’s cousin Fredrick sustained gunshot wounds to the face before medics pronounced him dead on the scene of the incident.

The DeKalb County Police Department in Georgia confirmed the arrest over Twitter, writing:

‘’On January 21, the DeKalb County Police Department investigated Rooks’ death after he was found shot on Deep Shoals Circle. Hawk is in the DeKalb County Jail charged with murder.’’

According to reports, authorities responded to a call of a shooting at a local intersection at 3:30 am on January 21. The police found at least 8 shell casings at the scene where Rooks lay.

However, no hearing date has been set publically for the ‘watch Me’ singer. He has had a couple of other encounters with the law and this is just his latest one. In September 2020, the police arrested Hawk following a domestic dispute. They charged him with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse, however, they released him later.

A day after that, authorities arrested him for storming into a house carrying a hatchet claiming to be looking for his girlfriend. Fortunately, he harmed no one.
