She has said if NRM doesn’t unite now, they are going to lose Gogonyo by-election in Pallisa district. Currently, she is in Pallisa to meet with local party leadership and prepare for the elections.
According to her, this by election should be easy for them to win because they have no opposition in Pallisa but disunity may just lead to their loss.
“If we are divided as teams, we can never win. Much as we have no opposition in Pallisa, if we continue with the division, we won’t win. I want to kindly beg you, let’s come together as a family and win this by-election for the sake of NRM,” Sseninde said while addressing local leaders.
Oule George Omoding, the Pallisa NRM chairman, thanked Sseninde for her efforts in upholding unity within the district. He says this will further strengthen the party’s support in Pallisa.
Omoding said they are ready to deliver a peaceful free and fair NRM victory. This is once the Electoral Commission officially flags off the campaigns.
The Court of Appeal earlier ruled that they elected the incumbent MP, Derrick Orone, irregularly following a petition by Issa Bantalib Taligola.
This is why the seat is currently vacant. Those who have expressed interest in the seat are Orone (NRM), Taligola (Independent), Francis Mukula (Independent) and Joseph Okoboi of National Unity Platform (NUP).
