Even fellow comedians who mostly look up to him showed up in huge numbers.
It is not easy to organize concerts in Uganda although entertainers count on it for a living. The copyright law in place isn’t comprehensive enough to help.
This means they don’t own their craft fully and they can’t earn from it on social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok.
Amooti started comedy with a group that was known as Amarula. He was with his two other colleagues Paddy Man and Mmese Bontwe who are now both deceased.
With the help of young comedians, the legendary comedian managed to recreate the memories of how they started out performing in dresses and high heels.
It was fun for those who attended and those who were watching live on some social media platforms. Amooti’s wife and children were also at the show supporting him. He also showed off his wife Shamim who wasn’t known publicly to Ugandans.
It is not easy for a comedian to pull off such a successful show. Fans wanted him to get a bigger venue but the promoter that had bought his show wanted a smaller venue and that is what they ended up with.
