Sheila Nduhukire, 31, the former NTV and NBS news anchor is a senior Ugandan journalist. Currently, she is the Principal Public Relations Officer/Manager at the Entebbe-based National Medical Stores.
The 23rd of April 1990 saw the birth of Nduhukire to Rt. Rev Stephen Namanya and Lydia Namanya, a retired teacher.
Rt. Rev Stephen is the current Bishop of North Ankole Diocese. Nduhukire is the second born in a family of seven.
She attended her primary education at Kabatereine Memorial School in Mbarara before joining Uganda Martyrs Namugongo SS for O-level. She later joined Bweranyangi girls where she completed her Advanced level education.
In her final exams of A-Level, Nduhukire performed brilliantly and because of that, she secured a government scholarship. She pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
In her first year at campus, Nduhukire became the Chief Fresher. The experience she got from this encouraged her to run for Guild President the following year.
She successfully floored five other men becoming the first female Guild President of the university since its founding in 1989.
The position put her out in the world broadening her circles. Towards the end of her university education, she found her way into Kampala in 2013.
Her journey in the journalism world
While there, she managed to find her way into the Daily Monitor newsroom where they sent her to the Nation Media Lab in Nairobi. There, she underwent a nine-month training in print, radio, and TV journalism.
Upon her return, she went to Maurice Mugisha, the then NTV head of the news department for a broadcast test. On March 17, Nduhukire immediately became a news reporter. This, however, lasted only 7 months before she became an anchor.
In 2018, she got transferred to NTV’s sister station in Kenya but left after a brief stint at NTV Kenya.
Sheila then flew out to the UK to pursue a Master’s Degree in International and Public Relations and Global Communications Management. She did this at Cardiff University under the Chavening Scholarship Program.
She recently revealed that while in the UK, she got a part-time job as a waitress at the famous McDonald’s restaurant for her upkeep.
Upon her return, Next Media CEO, Kin Kariisa spotted her and in November 2019, NBS unveiled her as their new member of the anchoring team. This definitely came with a good pay deal.
In her recent move, she went on to head the public relations department at the Entebbe-based National Medical Stores. She replaced Hon.
Dan Atwijukire Kimosho who joined elective politics eventually becoming an MP for Kazo County.
