It should be remembered that last year though, her party was against her standing, she came as an independent to contend with Oulanyah who was the NRM party choice.
However, she lost to him but Museveni still considered her for a ministerial position. She is currently the Minister of East African Community Affairs.
A number of people anticipated that due to the unfortunate news of the passing of Rt. Hon. Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, Kadaga would show interest. She however chose to stay away from this spot and concentrate on her work.
There are many reasons we could attach to her refusal to participate in this.
The fact that she must resign from her ministerial position could be one because if she doesn’t go through, she loses both spots.
Another possible reason could be to prove that she didn’t mean bad for the fallen Speaker. Most people were accusing her of having ill feelings toward Oulanyah.
Her participation in this race would make many people say a lot. We could also put it on the fact that so many people have shown interest in this position and she didn’t want to be added to that list.
Rumour has it that the president told her to concentrate on bringing to life the East African integration.
Some sources though had confirmed that she was considering standing for this position but she was advised to stay away from it. Otherwise, the public was ready to witness how the race would end with her in it.
Meanwhile, she has not yet made a comment in regards to this topic, nor has she talked about Oulanyah’s sudden death.
