Emmanuel Dombo, the NRM director of information, and publicity has expressed his disappointment in MPs who want to enhance their allowances at such a time.
Emmanuel says MPs should not ask for any money increment yet doctors and teachers are demanding. He said this while on NBS on the morning breeze show.
“Why would MPs enhance their allowances yet teachers and doctors are demanding for money? I’d like to hear this explanation from the Members of Parliament.”
There is a rumour that MPs wanted an increase in their allowances. This has got people angry especially because teachers and doctors have been striking over low salaries.
The citizens say that as much as the president directed them to live within their means, public officials are not doing the same.
“The president said that we should “kukekereza” but it seems we’re saving for the best of their stomachs. What greedy parliament does Uganda have,” a one nazzari said.
However, the president is expected to address Parliament tomorrow. These are probably some of the things he is going to talk about.
“There is a lot we are expecting from the President’s speech tomorrow. The FID was arrived at in this year. It has taken us time, but we may be on the right side after all. I expect the President to talk about this. I also expect the President to talk about #COVID19. We expect the President to come and guide Ugandans. He received accolades for how he handled the pandemic,” Emmanuel Dombo said.
