Will Smith Apologizes To Chris Rock A Day After Slapping Him For Bad Jokes

Famous American actor, Will Smith has apologized to comedian Chris Rock after he slapped him during the Oscars for joking about the health of his wife.

Smith ran to his social media platforms saying his behavior is unacceptable and inexcusable.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” He said in a statement on Instagram.

Smith acknowledged that his behavior was out of line and further apologized to the academy as well.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I’m embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

This comes after the Oscars film academy condemned Smith over the incident and announced a formal review. Much as some people were anticipating this incident to be part of the script, this was ignored by the Oscars organisers.

Chris Rock has not yet reacted to Smith’s apology but during the Oscars he joked saying he just got smacked on live TV.

Fans have been divided over this issue with some supporting Will while others condemning what he did. However, the middle line has been, Chris Rock shouldn’t have joked about Jada’s health because clearly she is not open to it.

For Will to slap Chris though, was a shock because no one saw it coming. Looking at the video, he was smiling at the joke until Jada showed discomfort. This is probably pushed him to do something but the show still went down.
