Workers MP Margaret Rwabushaijja To Advocate For Teachers’ Interests

Workers Member of Parliament  Margaret Rwabushaijja Namubiru has pledged to advocate for teachers interests if re-elected. While unveiling her 2021 /2026 manifesto at Uganda National teachers union head quarters, Namubiru the founding teachers umbrella Union said teachers still live in appalling situations. The majority living in poverty after the Covid-19 pandemic rendering them jobless.

“I seek reelection as workers member of Parliament for term 2021 /2026. I want to continue promoting, supporting and defending the workers agenda which I already started as a means of achieving sustainable development  goal 8.

Demonstrated the potential, passion and dedication to build a stronger workers movement. And also stronger employment policies for the development and protection of workers rights and management as as means to deliver more jobs,” Namubiru said.

She further pledged to advocate for minimum wage   and better  working conditions for all forms of  workers.

“As specialist in labour and industrial relations, policy advocacy, negotiation combined with passion I pledge to rights of workers and promote activities aimed at improving their welfare,” she explained.

During her first term as workers MP Namubiru lobbed the president to release sh 25billion for teachers Sacco however despite her efforts teachers Sacco we still demand president to release 8 billion SACCO money.

Achievements at Parliament;

Margaret Rwabushaijja was instrumental in establishing and management of of markets amendment Bill 2019, employment amendment Bill 2019, minimum wage bill and NSSF amendment Bill 2019.

She was also  been very instrumental in the Parliament in ensuring the successful lobbying and influencing legislation on pertinent issues that relate to and concern the well being of Ugandan workers.
