In 2017, several musicians launched the Uganda Musicians Association which was then headed by the Swangz Avenue’s Julius Kyazze before backing off in September last year, leaving other members to take over his position, this time around, Ykee Benda surprisingly scooped a significant position.

However, the Association was formed to maintain growth and peace within the Ugandan music industry and many other significant reasons. But after sometime, it started perishing because of internal misunderstandings.
This time around, most musicians had to meet once again at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo and formed another committee to push on with the work the old team had started.
According to the decisions they finally made, the faded artiste Sophie Gombya was named as the President and Ykee Benda as Vice president.
Other musicians on the committee include, Phina Mugerwa the new Secretary, Big Eye & Rena Nalumansi the Treasurers, Bushingtone the PR, Vicent Ssegawa the Kadongo Kamu representative, Swahab Kasumba the religious representative, Victor Kamenyo the Hip Hop representative, Ssekamate Grace the Band representative, King Michael the Raggae Dancehall Rep, Justin Buss Kilaka as Media representative, Barlon & Kiyingi as the Mobilisers and Jamie Culture as the chief whip.
We hope that the committee of this association will carry on with the good work expected from them.
