The late Speker passed away about two weeks ago in Seattle, US.
Preparations have been underway to oversee the whole funeral ceremony. Confirmed sources had it that 2.5 billion Uganda shillings was spent on the entire burial.
This caused an uproar among a section of Ugandans who bemoaned the way government wastes their money (taxpayers).
However, Obore through his Twitter page has responded to them saying they are not the only taxpayers. Therefore they should respect the emotions of those who are mourning.
This is because they (mourners) are also taxpayers. Therefore, those crying about their taxes should just lay low because it seems they don’t know how it feels to lose a loved one.
“Jacob goes to his final resting place. Those talking about taxpayers’ money kindly spare us who are mourning. We miss Jacob and we will miss him. Yes, you are taxpayers. But even we who are mourning are taxpayers. Don’t claim to be the only taxpayers,” Obore tweeted.
The death of Oulanyah has really sparked off a number of controversies. These only showed that the country is a ticking time bomb, especially running along tribal lines.
A number of circumstances also still surround the death of the Honorable Speaker which some are still finding bizarre to believe. The Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng said that Oulanyah died from multiple organ failures.
His father Nathan Okori however said that his son confided in him that he was poisoned. This is something he reiterated during his speech at the funeral.
