You Should Resign, Kyagulanyi Advises EC Chairperson Byabakama

Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has advised Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC chairperson to resign if he has failed to do his work. Kyagulanyi said this while speaking to journalists about what they talked about during his meeting with the EC council. The unsatisfied presidential candidate expressed his disappointment in the way Electoral Commission is handling matters saying they are biased.

Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi asked the EC Chairperson Justice Byabakama why they didn’t summon His Excellence, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. He came with photographic evidence of him congregating people in big numbers. His argument is that if indeed the reason the EC summoned him due to violating Coronavirus guidelines, then they should have  summoned everyone. However, the EC only summoned only  Kyagulanyi of NUP and Amuriat of FDC.

The two were summoned on Friday in a letter to appear before the EC Council on 15th December 2020 of which they both didn’t show up. Instead they sent their representatives whom The EC told to go back because the council wanted the presidential candidates in person. Kyagulanyi apologized saying he had to first inquire from his party council. Amuriat on the other hand said he only has free time during Christmas, 25th December 2020.

The two presidential candidates allege that these meetings are a trick to delay their campaigns. How true this is, we don’t know. However if indeed these meetings are to ensure people follow the health guidelines to the dot, then they need them because of the way coronavirus is on a sharp rise.
