The government expects more Heads of State to arrive in the country later today. This is according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since last week, security has been beefed up by both police and the army to thwart any possible protests.

On Monday, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the force prepared well for any eventualities.

‘’We have conducted massive drills on how to counter all forms of threats and vulnerabilities. These include armed attacks, massive demonstrations, aggressive and provocative behaviour against security personnel, blocking of roads with boulders and stones, deflating of tires, and blocking of VIPs,’’ Enanga said.

He also said the force will ensure the smooth running of the swearing-in ceremony to avoid history repeating itself. In 2011, protesters stoned the convoy of one of the visiting Heads of State.
