The central Kerr County region experienced a deluge of approximately 10 inches (25 centimeters) of rain overnight, leading to rapid and dangerous flash flooding of the Guadalupe River.
Uncertainty looms as rescue operations intensify
Authorities in Texas emphasize the fluidity of the situation, with the death toll anticipated to fluctuate as search and rescue efforts persist for those still missing.
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick disclosed that between six to ten bodies have been recovered thus far.
Similarly, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha confirmed the tragic loss of 13 lives due to the catastrophic flooding.
Judge Rob Kelly, the prominent figure in Kerr County’s governance, expressed the ongoing challenges in identifying the deceased individuals.
The majority of the victims remain unidentified, adding to the sorrow and complexity of the situation.
