4 Injured As Japanese Soldier Opens Fire At Military Base

According to the article, on June 14, 2022, a Japanese soldier opened fire at colleagues at a military base located in central Japan’s Gifu City as reported by local media.

Three soldiers were injured in the incident, with one sustaining serious injuries.

The perpetrator was identified as a 22-year-old private in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), who was stationed at the base.

Meanwhile NHK sources said that the Japanese soldier has been arrested for firing an automatic riffle at the forces shooting range and one of the injured is said to be in critical condition.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and an investigation is ongoing.

Shootings are extremely rare in Japan where gun ownership is tightly regulated and anyone seeking to own a gun must undergo through rigorous vetting process.

The JGSDF has stated that the incident is a serious violation of discipline and has pledged to take appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

In separate news earlier reported by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, a shooting in Central France left three police officers dead and the fourth severely injured, France’s Gendarmerie national police force confirmed.

The shooting happened just after midnight in the village of Puy-de-Dôme. Police officers were rescuing a woman during a domestic violence incident in a hamlet, according to local news outlets.
