The search for contacts of the 7 cargo truck drivers with coronavirus who were found on Saturday night in Kampala city’s suburb, Ndeeba has become more serious, according to Ministry of Health.
According to National Covid-19 Response Incident commander, Dr Kagirita Ateka, he told media on Monday that the cargo truck drivers had disappeared in to the community after they found out that they were positive. They are among the twenty five truckers who escaped previously into the community after their samples tested positive at Malaba and Elegu border entry points,’he said.
The ministry has launched a 24-hour manhunt for all the cargo truck drivers who disappeared into the community after their samples tested positive. We are working 24 hours to track all the people they got into contact with, to know where exactly they slept to make sure there’s no positive case left in the community, ‘he said.
When asked whether there will be any punishment given to all drivers escaping into the communities, knowing very well that they could easily infect innocent people, Dr Ateka said he will give details on Tuesday (today).
