The MP of Kimanya Kabonera, Hon Abed Bwanika has revealed why he didn’t sign the censure motion against the 4 Parliamentary Commissioners. It should be noted that for the past couple of months, Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo has been gathering signatures to censure the 4 Parliamentary commissioners.
These include Mathias Mpuuga, Solomon Silwany, Prossy Akampurira and Esther Afoyochan. Ssekikubo has already collected the necessary signatures although he’s yet to file the censure motion.
According to Bwanika, he did not sign because there are a number of irregularities in this motion. Besides, he believes it’s being pushed by someone for some motive.
On top of that, service awards were given to other groups of people such as the former Speakers. Therefore, he doesn’t understand why the focus is only on the Commissioners.
“I didn’t sign Ssekikubo’s commissioners’ censure motion because I see a lot of irregularities in it. I think it’s being pushed by someone. Service awards were given to several people, including former speakers Edward Ssekandi and Rebecca Kadaga. Even parliamentary commissioners received them. I find it not right to focus only on the four commissioners,” the MP said.
Additionally, the MP said that the most important thing is to find out whether this service award was legal, and if it was passed by Parliament.
If it was indeed done, it should be then clarified as a mistake. Therefore, a mistake done in Parliament is not corrected by a censure motion. It should rather be corrected by a censure motion to correct the mistake.
