Sheebah said this on international World AIDS day that happens annually on 1st December. HIV has been in existence for so many years now. At first when it was detected in Congo, so many people were ignorant about it.
By then it had no medicine for even first aid which ended so many lives of people. Being sexually transmitted, people that had sex with more than one partner contracted it first and the problem with it it couldn’t be hidden.
The first people to contract and die from this disease in Uganda were mostly in the Central regions of Masaka, Rakai and other places.
However, like any other African country, Ugandans lived in denial and most of them mistook HIV/AIDS for witchcraft and that killed so many people.
While advising fans, Sheebah Karungi revealed that some Ugandans especially the youth are still in denial. They don’t believe that HIV/AIDS actually exists.
The ‘Nakyuka’ hitmaker told her fans to either abstain from sex or use protection. This is because most of people take life for granted something that shouldn’t be happening at any time.
“AIDS is real, and not over. You either abstain or use protection, but don’t take life for granted.” She wrote.
It should be noted that there are some artistes like Fille Bongole Lutaaya who died from of AIDs. However, by the time of his death he was spreading awareness about the disease by singing songs about AIDS.
