Al-shabab Hotel Attack Leaves Behind Trail Of Bodies With 11 Confirmed Deaths

In just one month, there have been two major Al-shabab attacks in Somalia with the siege at the Tawakal hotel being the second. This happened during an offensive against the group by the Somali National Army and allied militia in central Somalia.

Early in October, a triple bombing in the town of Beledweyne left at least 20 people dead. Apparently, the terror group is staging war in every part of Somalia to send a message to the government in Mogadishu.

Abdisalam Guled is the director of Eagle Ranges Services, a Mogadishu-based security company. He said the Sunday attack is proof that the terrorist organization can attack anywhere anytime.

He also said it shows that the group has access to information on people organizing to fight them.

Guled says he has information that there were ongoing meetings in the hotel to discuss how al-Shabab could be fought.

For over 15 years, Al-shabab has been fighting to topple the internationally recognized Somali government. Guled even warned of weary consequences should the government fail to defeat the terrorist threat.
