All Set For Rotary Club Of Bukeerere Charter Night

Preparations are now complete for the highly anticipated Charter Night of the Rotary Club of Bukeerere, located in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality. The event is scheduled to take place on June 8, 2025, at Volt Lounge along Bukeerere Road.

Charter President Rtn. Augustine Kirungi, who also serves as the head teacher of St. Charles Lwanga SS Bukeerere, described this milestone as the culmination of a determined journey—one that truly deserves a grand celebration.

“It’s never easy to establish a Rotary Club,” Rtn. Kirungi remarked. “Many express interest at the beginning, but when it comes to paying for membership, numbers tend to drop. That’s when questions like, ‘What am I gaining?’ arise. But I’m proud to say we took small but steady steps and are now moving forward with confidence.”

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rtn. Kate Barasa, whose unwavering support has been instrumental since the club’s inception in 2024.

“It takes great dedication for someone to commit time and resources to a cause with no financial return, yet Rtn. Kate Barasa has stood by us throughout. She invested her time and fuel to make sure our dream became a reality. I can’t thank her enough—she has truly given birth to us,” Kirungi said.

Rtn. Kate Barasa , Charter President of the Rotary Club of Sonde, has played a vital role in founding several Rotary Clubs across Uganda. She expressed her joy at witnessing the successful establishment of the Rotary Club of Bukeerere and extended an open invitation to all Rotarians to join in the celebration.

“Words cannot express the joy I feel seeing the Rotary Club of Bukeerere officially registered,” she said. “The journey has had its highs and lows, but all of that is now behind us. We are ready to celebrate. I invite all Rotarians who can make it to Volt Lounge to be part of this milestone.”

According to Rtn. Kirungi, Rotarians will pay UGX 100,000 to attend the Charter Night celebrations, while guests—including family members of Rotarians from across the country—are welcome at a fee of UGX 50,000.

Rotary International President Stephanie A. Urchick extended her congratulations to Bukeerere on launching a new Rotary club and joining the global Rotary family.

“It is my honor to congratulate you on the charter of the Rotary Club of Bukeerere, Uganda,” she stated. “Your club’s addition to our family reflects Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self. It also stands as a testament to your club’s dedication to its members, its community, and the world we all share.”

Meanwhile, Rtn. Joseph Kato, Publicity Board Member and Founder of Daily Press Research Company, urged all Ugandan Rotarians to support the Charter Night by contributing via mobile money to Julius Oluka (0782968774), Treasurer of the organizing committee.

Rtn. Kirungi and Rtn. Benjamin Mutebi, Chairperson of the Charter Night Organizing Committee, confirmed that the Guest of Honour will be Rtn. Anne Nkutu, District Governor of Rotary District 9213. The event is set to begin at 2:00 PM with departures at leisure.
