12th Edition Of Amakula Film Festival Starts

The 12th edition of Amakula International Film Festival has started at Uganda Museum – Exhibition Hall.

Artistes and lovers of film will discuss among others the role of film to the east Africa film industry alongside massive movie premiere and music entertainment.

Amakula International Film Festival is Uganda’s oldest independent film festival that aims to contribute to a vibrant local film industry, by broadening access to and developing audiences for quality African film production; inspiring local film makers to produce quality local films based on own stories; facilitating, presenting and promoting local film productions; and offering a professional networking platform for the film making community in East Africa and beyond.

Amakula International Film Festival is Herman kabubi programmes director says this year’s edition is core sponsored by Bayimba Cultural Foundation, DOEN Foundation, Africalia, Kampala Film School and the Uganda Museum.

This year’s edition runs from 15th march to 17th march at Uganda museum.

The first Amakula Kampala International Film Festival was inaugurated on May 21, 2004. Kabubi says they will screen several selected films such as play for peace, citizens off line, blue mirror, kony order from above, keronicas wish, black and white, her broken shadow, mabata bata, subira and 27 guns among other films.

There will be other festival competition, discussions, workshops and seminar and other multi-disciplinary performances.
