Amooti Angered By Government’s Ban On Artistes In Schools, Says Learners Will Start Escaping

City comedian, Amooti Omubalanguzi, is one of those people who are not happy at all with the government’s recent ban on artists performing in schools.

Amooti in fact said that the escape rate from schools by these learners is now going to increase. This is because learners will devise all means to access their favorite celebrities.

According to him, schools by the time they invite artists know all about them. The displeased funny man said that most of the people making such policies are in their 60s and out of touch with the current trend.

He added that policymakers have to know that eras have changed from the much conservative ones to the 21st century. People are now exposed and can do as they wish.

“I’m really not happy at all with the Ministry’s proposition of banning artistes from performing in schools. This is because we have a big impact and influence on the learners.

You will now see how the rate of students escaping to concerts from schools will increase. Most of the people proposing such things are even so old and out of touch. They don’t know that the world evolved from the conservative eras they grew in. We are role models to these learners and by the time a school invites an artist, they know each and every detail about her. These learners know if they want Nandujja or Spice Diana. The two can’t have the same dress code,” Amooti said.

He further added that as entertainers, they are looking forward to contesting this decision such that it is rethought over again.

Besides Amooti said that the government has a lot of important national issues to address apart from this ‘minor’ one. He highlighted the street kids, floods in Mbale and hunger in the Karamoja region.

HE additionally said that social media has exposed young people to a lot of things and are even now celebrities citing TikTok.

According to Amooti, you might find in future when these learners even ask for strippers at school to perform for them.
