NTV journalist and news anchor Andrew Kyamagero has aroused controversy on social media after comments he made were deemed misogynistic by several people.
While on a TV talk show that talks about marriage issues, Kyamagero seemed to imply that women belong in the kitchen.
He said that it’s very improper for a woman to tell a man to go to the kitchen to prepare his own food. The journalist said that it doesn’t matter whether both couples work; a woman should never tell a man to go to the kitchen.
Even if it means going to warm the food in a microwave, it’s unbecoming. Besides, he doesn’t even have one in his house.
Additionally, he said that as a man, he’s the strategic head in the home. A woman is the head of all the other operations, therefore, sending him to the kitchen is disrespectful.
If a woman does this, she’s sending him into temptation. He will start considering the other restaurants that cook the food that he prefers. She will even be lucky if he comes back to her.
These remarks did not sit well with several people. Female sports journalist Aisha Nassanga who has worked with him before said that this is funny.
Apparently, those who know Kyamagero can’t believe this. Another social media user said that “Mind you his net pay is 800k from the TV station.”
One other social media user wrote that “For as long as girls continue to see marriage as an achievement, men will continue to behave like this. What do you mean that she’s lucky you choose to come back every day?”
Well, several people seemed to agree with Kyamagero’s submission. However, others disagreed with how gender roles should pan out in a marriage.
