This was revealed by his sister, MP Hon Margaret Muhanga via her Twitter account. She said that Mwenda was rushed to Mulago hospital after severe vomiting.
Hon Muhanga joked that she rushed to the hospital thinking that Mwenda could be pregnant. She however found him suffering from Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism.
According to rare diseases.info, Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism (PPHP) is an inherited condition that causes short stature, a round face, and short hand bones.
PPHP causes joints and other soft tissues in the body to harden. It also affects how bones are formed.
She added that the Independent magazine CEO has started to suffer from the consequences of old age.
“Visited the old man @AndrewMwenda at Mulago Hosp where he was rushed this afternoon following severe vomiting. I suspected he could be pregnant only to find he was suffering from Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism. Get well soon grandpa. Old age isn’t as easy as you imagine. At 110 just vomiting gets you admitted. Hmmmmm,” she tweeted.
Her followers and all those of Mwenda took to the tweet to wish him a quick recovery. Many applauded Mwenda for actually choosing to go to the national referral hospital.
This is because many people have lost confidence in the services availed at Mulago hospital.
From corruption and negligence to lack of hospital necessities, the hospital has indeed cut a negative image among a majority of Ugandans.
