“I can tell you, Hon. Basalirwa and Rt. Hon. Anita Among will be having coffee this evening or next week even when he is contesting against her today. That lady (Anita Among) is people-centered. We need a tolerant and uniting speaker. What we want is a Speaker who will unite us as a country. I have learnt with shock that Uganda is such a divided country. This is the same situation even in Parliament. I see this (uniting factor) in Rt. Hon. Anita Among.”
Hon. Dan Kimosho added that the position of the speaker is good for a woman. He says the president listens a lot to women so this means issues can be easily handled.
“I would prefer that position for a woman. President Museveni listens a lot to women. If we get a young, dynamic lady, then I have no problem. I will trust the President to make the decision but my preference is a lady who is 50 years and below.”
By the end of today, Parliament will be having a speaker because the August house is voting. Some have already predicted how this will end but the day will tell either way.
