According to Kansiime, this Federation will help musicians make money and become financially stable, especially the female singers. And if this is achieved, they can then think of giving birth.
According to Kansiime, these musicians can’t give birth due to lack of money. Most of the time, they are always up and down looking for money from performances.
This therefore can’t enable them to settle down and start families. But with the UNMF, things are likely to change.
“You people keep asking female musicians why they don’t give birth. How will they give birth when they don’t have money? The only time musicians get money is when they are on stage,” she said.
Meanwhile, these musicians talked about a wide number of topics. And among the ones they intend to tackle are telecom companies.
Songstress Spice Diana said that these telecom companies use their songs as caller tunes. However, musicians are paid peanuts, yet they put in a lot to make this music.
“Telecommunication companies make a lot of money from our music. I’m sure most of you have our songs as callback tunes. We put in a lot but at the end of the day we only get 1% of what these companies collection.”
This was supported by Pallaso who also added that they put in a lot and earn less. Therefore, these telecom companies will have to be dealt with.
For David Lutalo, he said that they are going to start approaching radios and TVs to demand that they pay for playing their music. They know that these stations are owned by some people in government but they won’t fear.
