Are Teachers And Students Prepared For Schools Re-opening?

Now that finally, schools are opening, are teachers and students prepared for?. It looks so easy to say that schools are opening soon. The question is, how about the teachers and students who have been off for such a long time. Right now the mental health of both parties is very important. They have been through a lot of trauma during this period of COVID.

The president while finally putting the key at the lock of schools, didn’t mention anything like counseling the teachers or the students. Most of the teachers have been surviving on the grace of God. Some students on the other hand because they had lost hope, decided to get pregnant during this time. Things can definitely not be the same again.

Before anything, the ministry of Education should first arrange a teacher’s seminar to make sure they are in the right mind to teach. Otherwise, cases of torture may be highly witnessed due to misplaced anger or disappointment. It should be noted that most of the teachers especially in private schools have never been paid since the closure of schools in March.

The effect on students

As for the students, talking to most of them now, the highest number of students are actually not ready to go back to school. Actually most of them had settled with the fact that this should be called a dead year. With such a mindset, the wisest thing to first do is to take scholars through a short period of counseling. Most of them are terribly terrified by this pandemic and may need a lot of time before they stabilize.

Experts had however recommended against reopening of schools. They argued that there are still many grey areas, especially rising infections.

They also said the limited capacity of school directors to enforce the standard operating procedures (SOPs) may turn out to be a disaster.
