Arrogant Landlord Evicts Children Of Father Stranded Upcountry Due To Lockdown

Residents of Nakulabye Kiwunya zone in Kampala were on Tuesday evening left shocked after an arrogant landlord removed the roof off the house to force out 2 teenagers and their younger siblings over uncleared rent arrears.

The 5 siblings whose mother passed away in 2019, mentioned that their arrogant landlord decided to remove off the roof after their dad failed to pay rent arrears for 3 months from March to May.

These children told Newslexpoint how their dad got stranded upcountry since the Ugandan government announced a lockdown where all movements in and out of Kampala were ceased.

One of the children, who is a candidate of UACE exam explained that the landlord ordered them to move out of his house, but they don’t have anywhere to go.

“We stay with our father, my mother died last year. At the moment, my father got locked out of the city due to the lockdown. The owner of the house ordered us to move out by Saturday but we don’t have anywhere else to go. After removing the roof, we tried to explain to him but he ignored us,” One of the siblings said.

However, one of the good-hearted neighbors who has been helping to take care of these children said she reported the issue to the police and promised to charge the landlord as soon as possible.
