Arsenal Fans Left In Fury After Foden, Palmer & Watkins Withdraw From England Squad

Arsenal fans have taken to social media to vent their fury after English stars, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins withdrew from the England National football team. The English FA revealed that the trio have gone back to their respective teams for rehabilitation.

Arsenal fans feel that this is unfair to their two ‘Three Lions’ players Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. The duo played almost every minute of the just concluded Euros. And yet they are going to feature for England while players of their rival clubs take a rest off.

Manchester City forward Phil Foden, who was just crowned PFA Player of the Year was unable to report to the squad due to illness. This is despite being called by interim England manager Lee Carsley.

Both Aston Villa’s Watkins and Chelsea’s Palmer reported for duty at St George’s Park. However, according to the Football Association, they have returned to their respective clubs “to continue their rehabilitation from ongoing issues”.

The games to be played;

England takes on the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on September 7. Three days later, they welcome Finland at Wembley. These will be their first games since they were defeated by Spain in the 14 July Euro 2024 final.

Soon after, on August 9, under-21s manager Carsley was named interim manager following Gareth Southgate’s resignation. He named his starting lineup for the forthcoming Nations League matches, giving Angel Gomes, Tino Livramento, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Noni Madueke call-ups.

Carsley was the England Under-21 manager when Gomes, a winger for Lille. Gibbs-White, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, Madueke, a forward for Chelsea, and Livramento, a defender for Newcastle, all played for him.

Jack Grealish, a playmaker for Manchester City, and Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, were called up after being left out of England’s initial Euro 2024 roster.

This arrangement as it is, has left many Arsenal fans mad. They believe the English national team is being deliberately unfair to their club.
