Rumor has it that the manager of Arsenal has expressed concerns over White and Timber’s fitness as well.
Raya’s “muscular injury” kept him out of Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Bolton, and he might have to miss Saturday’s matchup with the Foxes as well.
Concerns regarding White and Timber’s fitness as well as rumors of Raya’s potential exclusion surfaced when it was confirmed that Martin Odegaard would be out for some time.
It is becoming somewhat of an injury crisis for the Gunners, who are also without Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mikel Merino.
Quizzed if Raya was ‘fine’ to start against Leicester, Arteta said: ‘We don’t know yet. He’s got a muscular injury.’
Should Raya be unavailable to play Leicester, Arteta might choose to give No. 2 goalkeeper Neto his debut. Due to a cup tie, Neto, who is on loan from AFC Bournemouth to Arsenal, was unable to participate against Bolton.
In the press conference held after the game, Arteta gave 16-year-old Jack Porter a start. The Spaniard was all praise for the young goalie.
‘‘Jack has been training with us since pre-season and we were confident that he could do the role,’ Arteta said.
‘Obviously, he plays in the England youth national team. We’ve seen what he can do and we believe it was the right choice. We told him yesterday and he was over the moon straight away. I think he spoke to his family and they weren’t prepared for that. It’s a big step, it’s a big occasion for them and I think they were nervous about it,” he added.
