Many people are facing serious hunger and are on the verge of starvation.
Artistes are some of those currently suffering since they have been under lockdown now for two years.
UMA yesterday started a food relief campaign to some of it’s members though they said this wasn’t enough to cover all members.
“We have decided to collect a few food items and hand them to some of our musicians. We’ve been waiting for Nabbanja’s money but in vain. We had handed in all the data base of our members but up to now nothing has been delivered.” Phina Mugerwa, a committee member of UMA said.
Big Eye, another committee member said this food was not enough to cover all the regions in the country.
He added that UMA has members in all regions of the country but the food was only enough for those in the Central region.
DJ Michael called upon Gen Salim Saleh and President Museveni to come out and help the musicians.
“Gen Saleh, please hear our cry. All those musicians who meet you in Gulu are directed to join UMA but there is nothing. That’s why when they cross Karuma dam, they all say they won’t join. So, at least send something so that they can find it here. President Museveni you are a member of UMA and even have our card. You are a musician, so don’t let your fellow musicians to die.” King Michael said.
